Nutanix today announced a new hyper-converged enterprise certification, the Nutanix Platform Expert (NPX) certification, which will serve as the company’s flagship educational program. NPX focuses on web-scale technology, hyper-convergence, and multi-hypervisor theory in order to provide a pathway for datacenters and cloud service providers to identify new talent.

The NPX certification will be available free of charge and is built on Nutanix’s nu.school customer education platform. NPX will use written exams as well as solution design, lab and design exercises, and peer review in order to assess candidates’ architectural capabilities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate competency in multiple contemporary hypervisor platforms as well as legacy workloads and platforms.

The NPX certification was developed by a Nutanix team working in partnership with Lisa S. O’Leary, a PhD psychometrician from Alpine Testing Solutions. In order to participate in the NPX certification, candidates will need to complete a NPX Program Application and NPX Design Review. Once admitted, candidates will receive mentoring from veteran enterprise architects.

This announcement comes on the heels of Nutanix’s Fall 2014 announcement that it raised $140 million in Series E funding to bring the company’s total funding to $312 million. The company also recently expanded its partnership with Dell with three new XC Series SDS converged storage appliances which couple Nutanix software with Dell hardware.
