In response to the emergence of social media, Cloud, and Big Data that continues fueling the digital evolution, EMC has announced new enhancements across its Documentum portfolio of enterprise content management (ECM) applications, allowing their customers to address next-generation ECM. EMC indicates that it will accomplish this by optimizing current investments as the backbone for new business models.
With a focus on solving customer business and content problems, the latest enhancements include:
- The latest Documentum 7.2 platform is the fastest and most secure Documentum release to date. This includes Top Secret-level encryption (AES-256) for content in transit and at rest as well as new storage certifications, which allow for storage management optimization within the software-defined data center
- Documentum D2 4.5 and Documentum xCP 2.2 provide increased agility and drive productivity for developers and administrators when deploying new solutions across numerous industries. In addition, xCP offers more functionality for migrations and upgrades, and D2 offers an enhanced user experience with improvements to approval processes. It also includes new ways to find documents faster.
- Captiva 7.5 offers distributed capture, which extends its capture capability to branch offices with a more simplified user interface while also enhancing image recognition and mobile development kits. This latest release is built around mobile use cases and features real-time Rest services.
- Documentum Asset Operations Mobile 1.1 increases the functionality of EMC Documentum Asset Operations, which allows for maintenance and operations workers to view and submit field queries and access critical information, including SOPs and work orders using an iPad
With these improvements, EMC believes that it will further help customers to strengthen their content strategy all the while aiding in transitioning from Platform 2 (Client-server and virtualized x86 traditional application era) to Platform 3 (Big Data era with new applications and new workloads built for cloud, social, and mobile).
