Just a week after QNAP’s announcement about their new TS-x63U NAS Series, the company revealed that the TVS-871T line is now shipping, their new networked storage appliance designed to offer photographers and high definition video producers an efficient way to manage content. The new TVS-871T is the industry’s first hybrid NAS/DAS/iSCSI IP-SAN to offer direct storage access while leveraging two Thunderbolt 2 ports as well as full NAS functionality through Gigabit/10GbE network connectivity. QNAP’s new NAS is equipped with 8 hot-swappable drive bays and an impressive maximum of 64TB of in-unit storage. The TVS-871T’s storage can be expanded using QNAP's TX expansion unit series (TX-800P and TX-500P), totaling up to 448TB in total raw storage.

Media professionals will also find the TVS-871T’s dedicated private cloud to be very useful, as it allows for easy remote access, file sharing and advanced virtualization functionality to work as a stand-alone PC. In addition, the TVS-871T is equipped with an HDMI port, which gives users real-time, simultaneous storage and play-out of 4K content viewable on a 4K display.
In addition, the TVS-871T is compatible with QNAP’s QTS 4.2 management software, providing convenient management of the entire system through a single interface. Also included are apps including the new Qsirch natural search feature, which offers an easy way to locating content on the NAS, as well as apps for virtualization, backup/data replication, video/photo sharing, and much more. The TVS-871T can also be accessed using QNAP’s suite of iOS and Android mobile apps.
