Today at the China Public Security Expo (CPSE) 2015 in Shenzhen, China, Seagate Technology announced the highest capacity surveillance drive with its 8TB surveillance hard drive disk (HDD). Last month Seagate announced that it was able to bump up the capacity in several of its other HDDs. These new HDD is the highest capacity HDD on the market specifically designed for surveillance storage.

Security footage, along with the quality of the footage, is only going up and all the data that is being generated needs to be retained. HD security cameras can generate up to 340TB of data per month. Not only do organizations need more capacity they need to choose the correct drive to store it on. The new drives come with 33% for capacity, they are designed to 24×7, and can store up to 800 hours of HD video captured by up to 64 cameras simultaneously recording HD content.

The new drives also incorporate rotational vibration sensors giving it more reliable performance in systems with 8 or more drives such as casinos or manufacturing plants. Other Features include Seagate Rescue services that are able to restore data within two weeks depending on the type of recovery, promising more than 90 percent success rate in the data recovery. The rescue plan is activated at time of purchase and provides three years of data recovery at a very low price compared to the cost of data recovery due to anything from malicious software to natural disasters.

The 2015 CPSE is the world’s biggest and most influential security industry event. The CPSE promotes the development of and accelerates the overall advancement of the global security market by showcasing products such as Seagate’s new Surveillance HDD 8TB drive.
