The ARCHOS G9 series tablets feature a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and will be available with up to a 250GB hard drive. The 7mm Seagate Momentus drives feature the company’s SmartAlign technology, which automatically aligns mis-aligned sectors without any additional software or drivers; it is all done from the hard drive’s firmware. The technology allows the drive to function like a normal 512b sector drive. In addition to SmartAlign, the drives feature 5400RPM or 7200RPM rotational speeds and a 16MB cache.
An obvious benefit of a hard drive-bearing tablet is the far higher available storage capacity, making storage-expanding accessories such as the Hitachi G-CONNECT.
Pricing and Availability
The ARCHOS 80 G9 8-inch tablet and ARCHOS 101 G9 10-inch tablet will be available late September this year for $279 and $349, respectively.
