Recent performance advances in data storage performance could splinter hardware platforms in the enterprise, and STA sponsors including HP, Fusion-io, HGST, LSI, PMC-Sierra, SanDisk, Seagate, and Western Digital were eager to distinguish themselves with solutions that take advantage of increased performance while also allowing mixed storage ecosystems with backwards-compatibility. New SCSI Express products bring together the time-tested SCSI feature set and tools with a high-throughput, low-latency PCIe 3.0 bus.
