We’ve updated the Leaderboard with an entry for the 150 GB Raptor, a drive that seems to have hit availability a bit sooner than anticipated.
It’s interesting to note that while the 36 GB and 74 GB Raptors were leading performers in their day, neither unit managed the right combination of performance, capacity, and price to claim any available leaderboard slot… the WD1500 is actually the first of the family to do so.
Speaking of the Leaderboard, many readers have noted that all listed drives sport relatively high price tags. This reflects the listing’s “best of the best” orienation. With the impending publication of SR’s 250 GB drive roundup, however, a new category will debut. Stay tuned!
