Barracuda Launches Barracuda Backup 290 & Becomes VMware Ready

Barracuda Networks has announced the launch of a new option in its Backup appliance line, Barracuda Backup 290. The release of the Backup 290 will give customers more options when choosing a backup product. Barracuda also announced that the 390 will get an increase in capacity, taking it to 2TB. Along with the additions and enhancements of its backup line, Barracuda also achieved VMware Ready Status.


Barracuda Networks has announced the launch of a new option in its Backup appliance line, Barracuda Backup 290. The release of the Backup 290 will give customers more options when choosing a backup product. Barracuda also announced that the 390 will get an increase in capacity, taking it to 2TB. Along with the additions and enhancements of its backup line, Barracuda also achieved VMware Ready Status.

Barracuda’s Backup appliance line has multiple options to give customers the flexibility they need when choosing a backup appliance. The new Backup 290 has a usable capacity of 1TB putting it squarely between the 190 (500GB capacity) and the 390 (now with 2TB of capacity). The appliance provides an option for branch offices looking to back up their local data at an affordable cost. The Backup 290 appliance can be purchased with a subscription separately or under Barracuda’s Backup-as-a-Service plan.

Barracuda Backup also achieved VMware Ready Status after a detailed evaluation process. This is VMware’s highest level of endorsement. This allows Barracuda Backup customers to protect and recover virtual machines. Enterprises using Barracuda Backup with VMware vSphere 5.0.x can reduce downtime by booting critical VMs in the Barracuda Cloud if their primary servers or storage fail.
