by Harold Fritts

Broadcom’s new Brocade G710 Fibre Channel switch is designed for the small to mid-sized business growth market.

Broadcom Inc. has announced the availability of the Brocade G710, a cutting-edge 24-port 64G Fibre Channel switch. Designed as a top-of-rack SAN switch, the Brocade G710 combines the latest cyber-resilient and autonomous SAN technology into a cost-effective platform that integrates seamlessly into rack-based storage solutions. With its high performance, reliability, and energy efficiency, the G710 offers small to mid-sized businesses affordable access to the benefits of Gen 7 Fibre Channel technology.

Brocade G710 64G SAN Switch

Broadcom’s Brocade G710 extends its already extensive 64G SAN portfolio, which includes fixed port switches, modular directors, extension switches, and management software. The G710 highlights Broadcom’s advancements in Fibre Channel technology and commitment to innovation. As the lowest-latency Fibre Channel switch in the industry, it delivers an ultra-fast 460 ns port-to-port latency at 64G speeds. It is also the most energy-efficient switch, with a typical power draw of just 65 watts.

Dennis Makishima, Vice President and General Manager of Broadcom’s Brocade Storage Networking division emphasized the solution’s appeal: “Brocade Gen 7 Fibre Channel enables a cyber-resilient SAN that’s easy to deploy and manage while delivering the reliability, security, and performance customers demand. Our new entry switch provides worry-free storage networking and no-compromise security in an affordable solution that addresses the needs of an always-on data center.”

Brocade G710 Features and Benefits

The Brocade G710 provides an entry point to Gen 7 Fibre Channel. Its scalable design starts at just eight ports and grows to 24 ports to accommodate evolving business needs. With its 64 G speed and 1.5 Tb/s total bandwidth, the switch supports demanding applications and storage requirements in enterprise environments. This scalability and performance make the G710 an excellent choice for expanding organizations.

Broadcom designed the G710 for maximum reliability, boasting six nines (99.9999%) availability to ensure continuous uptime and optimal performance even in challenging conditions. The switch’s self-healing and self-optimizing capabilities maintain network operations and performance, providing organizations with a worry-free, highly reliable network. Its cyber-resilient architecture protects critical data and applications with controlled access, network isolation, and a hardened operating system with root-of-trust validation. This robust security framework minimizes vulnerabilities to malware and hijacking attacks.\

As the industry’s most energy-efficient Fibre Channel switch, the G710 helps organizations reduce operational costs without sacrificing performance. Additionally, the Brocade G710 offers superior investment protection with the industry’s only lifetime warranty, providing 24/7 access to technical experts and free security patches and firmware updates throughout the product’s lifecycle. This eliminates the costs and complexities of post-warranty support while ensuring the switch remains protected against emerging threats.

For organizations seeking an affordable, reliable, and high-performing SAN switch, the Brocade G710 offers an unmatched combination of scalability, security, and efficiency tailored to modern data center needs.
