Buffalo has refreshed their line of DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad NAS units and added a single-drive unit, DriveStation Axis.
Buffalo has refreshed their line of DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad NAS units and added a single-drive unit, DriveStation Axis.
The DriveStation Duo and Quad feature two and four drives respectively, as their names imply. Both use a USB 2.0 or eSATA interface with data rates up to 225 MB/s on the Duo and 235 MB/s on the Quad. The Duo supports RAID 0 and 1, while the Quad supports 0, 5 and 10, with 5 being the default configuration.
Both units come with the hard drives pre-installed, the Quad comes in 4TB and 8TB capacities while the Duo will be available in 2TB and 4TB configurations. Buffalo also includes a suite of software to provide backup services to the connected computers.
The new DriveStation Axis is is a single USB 2.0 external drive that comes paired with Buffalo’s backup utility. The Axis will be available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities.
All three units comes with a one year warranty.
Availability
The DriveStation Quad is available in late August at estimated street prices of $624.99 for the 4 TB (HD-QL4TSU2R5) and $1134.99 for the 8 TB (HD-QL8TSU2R5)
The DriveStation Duo is available in September at estimated street prices of $274.99 for the 2 TB (HD-WL2TSU2R1) and $454.99 for the 4 TB (HD-WL4TSU2R1)
The DriveStation Axis is available in September at estimated street prices of $104.99 for the 1 TB (HD-LB1.0TU2), $124.99 for the 1.5 TB (HD-LB1.5TU2) and $169.99 for the 4 TB (HD-LB2.0TU2)
