ClearSky Data in VMware Cloud

We’ve previously covered ClearSky Data’s disaster recovery (DR) services. VMware Cloud on AWS provides connectivity to the ClearSky Data fully managed service for not just DR but also enterprise-grade backups. ClearSky is predicting cutting customers total cost of ownership by half. ClearSky Data & Vmware are hoping that their unified service on AWS will allow customers to unify their public cloud and private on-premise IT teams.

ClearSky Data’s Cloud Edge appliance enables the service. The Cloud Edge appliance can be co-located in AWS to provide on-demand primary storage services with built-in offsite backup and disaster recovery. With a single, durable copy of data that can be accessed anywhere. Delivered, sold and supported by VMware and its channel partners as an on-demand service, VMware Cloud on AWS is powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, the unified SDDC platform that integrates vSphere, VMware vSAN, and VMware NSX virtualization technologies.

According to VMWare’s partner list, ClearSky Data has joined just six other partners who support Vmware on AWS.
