Cloudian announced the general availability for its object storage solution for VMware Cloud Providers. Cloudian will be showcasing the joint offering in the Veeam booth (#627) at VMworld 2019 in San Francisco, Aug. 24-29.
Cloudian has partnered with Veeam in order to enable these providers to deliver S3-compatible services such as STaaS, BaaS, AaaS, DRaaS, and BDaaS services within vCloud Director environments. Veeam Backup & Replication leverages vCloud Director APIs to back up vApps and VMs and restore them directly to the vCloud Director hierarchy. VMware Cloud Providers are now able to deploy Cloudian as either a storage appliance or as a software-defined storage solution anywhere in the world.
Using vCloud Director as well as the Veeam Cloud Tier, VMware Cloud Providers can now directly deploy Cloudian and Veeam. Veeam states that its Cloud Tier can provide unlimited capacity for long-term data retention by using native, cost-effective object storage integrations. Aside from the above, the new object storage solution announced by Cloudian also includes out-of-the-box features such as multi-tenant resource pooling and billing and quality of service (QoS) controls.
