Today Code42 launched its fifth-generation platform. The latest release strengthens the platform’s core endpoint backup and restore capabilities. 5.0 also delivers new tools that will enable companies to easily perform legal holds on end-user data and allows for faster migration while protecting data.

New features include:

  • A new app to simplify the legal holds process
  • Faster data migrations across platforms
  • A re-engineered user interface

Legal documents need to be preserved for longer and longer periods of time, which makes finding them increasing difficult. When certain electronically stored information is needed IT teams need to find the data through eDiscovery. With Code42’s new legal hold app, legal departments will be able to search for and obtain the information themselves saving both time and costs.

Code42 has also streamlined data migration while stating that all end-user data is protected before, during and after migration. The new data migration features speeds up the migration and moves data seamlessly across platforms, while individual device settings and preferences transfer automatically with the Windows User State Migration Tool.

5.0 has also refreshed and made easy-to-use its UI. Code42 claims users will have a simplified workflow and faster, self-service backup and file recovery. They further state that making the UI easier will in turn make it more appealing to end users thus speeding up enterprise-wide adoption.
