Commvault is joining the ranks of many others that are hoping to accelerate the adoption of hybrid cloud environments as well as simplify the process for customers. Commvault is debuting a new solution for cloud disaster recovery and enhancing its existing solution set.
Public and private hybrid clouds are increasingly being adopted as a mainstream deployment model. The down side is that as customers accelerate this adoption they are experiencing more issues ranging from egress costs to wasteful utilization, to complex and siloed management. Commvualt’s new and enhanced solutions aim to deliver deeply integrated cloud automation and orchestration tools.
Commvault is introducing its Cloud Disaster Recovery as a low risk, high value first step. The cloud is becoming an attractive alternative for off-site protection for disaster recovery. The new solution will address problems such as major site/regional disasters and the issues that can arise from them.
Benefits include:
- Enables recovery in the cloud, regardless of flavor (VMware, HyperV, AWS, Azure) or location (public/private/hybrid)
- Extends VM provisioning and workflows from on premise into the public/hybrid cloud for consistent policy based management
- Enables full data restores to the VM’s in IaaS, thereby making a full disaster recovery an operational reality across all workload types
Along with Cloud Disaster Recovery, Commvault is strengthening data usage in the cloud with new enhancements to its Solution set. These enhancements include:
- Cloud Development and Test –ties VM Provisioning & Workflows and applies them to management of utilization of Development and Test environments in the cloud. In addition to reducing administrative overhead time spent on managing the cloud resources, it provides infrastructure managers with insurance against runaway bills.
- Cloud Gateway – improves overall backup agility, flexibility and performance, extending the protection tier from on premise to cloud by not only enabling cloud for off premise protection, but also for policy based movement of aged data to more cost effective storage.
- Cloud Replication – a block level host-based solution that supports replication directly to cloud storage targets natively.
