Crucial’s m4 SSD is now shipping, complete with SATA 6Gb/s interface, Marvell 9174-BLD2 processor and homegrown Micron 25nm NAND. While the top speeds are posted at 415MB/s reads and 260MB/s writes, the most interesting factor may be price. The m4 comes into a crowded market with the most aggressive SATA 6Gb/s pricing yet, starting at $129.99.

The 128GB, 256Gb and 512GB capacities are priced at $249.99, $499.99 and $999.99 respectively. By comparison that puts the 128GB drive roughly $50 cheaper than other SATA 6Gb/s drives of that capacity. The value proposition gets even better in the larger capacities, the 512GB m4 is $900 cheaper than the street price of the 480GB Vertex 3.
