Crucial today announced the availability of the m4 mSATA Solid State Drive (SSD), designed to be mounted to an mSATA motherboard as primary storage for ultrathin laptops or as cache for slower hard drive storage. The m4 offers a consumer alternative to the similar Micron C400 mSATA SSD that we have reviewed previously.

The m4 mSATA SSDs are based on the same controller technology, Micron firmware, and synchronous MLC NAND used in Crucial m4 SSDs (m4 SSD reviewm4 RAID review). Crucial m4 mSATA SSDs offer sequential read speeds up to 500MB per second and validation for Intel Smart Response technology and Dataplex caching software from NVELO.
