At the Nutanix .NEXT conference, Dell EMC has announced new updates to its Nutanix-based Dell EMC XC Family, the latest Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and their integration and management software. These announcements further demonstrate Dell EMC’s drive to continually enhance their portfolio so they can cater to the ever-growing needs of mainstream enterprise applications.
At the Nutanix .NEXT conference, Dell EMC has announced new updates to its Nutanix-based Dell EMC XC Family, the latest Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and their integration and management software. These announcements further demonstrate Dell EMC’s drive to continually enhance their portfolio so they can cater to the ever-growing needs of mainstream enterprise applications.
Here’s their run-down of the new releases:
- The Dell EMC XC940-24 is touted as the first quad-processor appliance for Nutanix environments. Users can configure it with up to 6TB of memory (with all flash or a mix of SSDs and HDDs options), and 10GbE or 25GbE networking. It is specifically designed for in-memory and memory-intensive databases, big data and analytics and other resource-intensive applications.
- The Dell EMC XC640-4i appliance is part of the lower-end range of applications and supports 1-, 2- and 3-node deployments and his built to meet the growing number of applications that are hosted outside traditional centralized data centers and cloud environments. Moreover, Dell EMC indicates that the new XC640-4i is a cost-effective HCI solution for non-mission critical applications in remote and branch offices, Internet of Things systems and other edge computing environments.
- The new Life Cycle Management (LCM) takes full advantage of PowerEdge technology and standards-based APIs to automatically inventory and update the BIOS and firmware for several components in an XC system. It supports both in-band and out-of-band communications and with Dell EMC claiming a 70% increase in update speeds compared to manual methods, allowing customers to noticeable less disruption of existing cluster operations.
