Today at Dell World, Dell Inc. is now offering what they claim to be the industry-leading All-Flash cost-per-gigabyte. Based off of Dell’s 13th generation Poweredge server platform, the arrays combine the new flagship Dell Storage SC9000 storage array controller, new 12Gb SAS expansion enclosures and next generation array software to deliver the lowest cost/GB of flash at 65¢/GB.

The new arrays can be configured as either all-flash or hybrid and single-tier or multi-tier optimized, has over 3PB of raw capacity, and can achieve over 385,000 IOPS. The array also comes with Dell’s newest Dell Storage Center 6.7 array software that boosts support for private clouds for the entire SC Series. Other features include:

  • Live Volume auto-failover for built-in disaster recovery with zero workload downtime and integrated host-side data protection for Oracle, Microsoft, and VMware environments.
  • New active data compression capabilities offer up to 93% flash capacity savings, and innovations, such as the industry-first deployment of TLC 3D NAND technology in a true high-performance, high-endurance setting, provide further cost savings.
  • Thin Import from PS Series – Easy migration for EqualLogic customers
  • Application Protection Manager for Oracle – restore host data from array
  • Software Suite for IBM-AIX – “VIOS Recognized,” enhanced availability
  • Azure Site Recovery – Support for Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure platform
  • SSD SED support – Data-at-rest encryption now available on flash
