Today Dot Hill had two major announcements aimed at increasing performance in vertical markets and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The first announcement is a new software technology that triples data ingest throughput and can also handle over 5,000 parallel data streams, RealStream software. The second announcement is a new AssuredSAN series, the 6000 Series. RealStream is available on the new AssuredSAN 6004.

The second announcement is a new AssuredSAN series, the 6000 Series. RealStream is available on the new AssuredSAN 6004.
RealStream is layered on top of Dot Hill’s new operating system, RealStor. RealStream is designed to “dramatically increase throughput of bandwidth-intensive applications” across a variety of streaming market segments. Using real-time, automatic, and predictive load balancing, RealStream can manage simultaneous ingest streams benefitting IoT application performance. Dot Hill has partnered with vertical market customers such as telecom infrastructure, network management, video surveillance, service providers, and HPC environments to address the new workload challenges.
To further handle these new workloads, Dot Hill is also introducing the new AssuredSAN 6000 series, which runs the above mention RealStream software and is optimized for vertical markets and IoT applications. The AssuredSAN 6000 series can support up to 1.5PB of capacity using 248 devices in any combination of SSDs and HDDs. The new solutions include dual active redundant controllers, 40GB of system cache, which will allow the array to provide up to 12GB/sec of sustained read performance and 5.7GB/sec sustained write-performance. The 6000 series is available in both Ultra56 and Ultra48 chassis, meet NEBS Level 3 carrier and MIL-STD government requirements, and deliver Dot Hill's proven 99.999% data availability.
