Dynatrace has announced the Autonomous Cloud Enablement (ACE) Practice to help speed up DevOps’ move to autonomous cloud operations. ACE is designed to give organizations everything they need (such as best practices, hands-on expertise, and automation services) to successfully migrate to autonomous, NoOps cloud operations. Dynatrace indicates that practice will initially focus on both unbreakable CI/CD pipelines and autonomous, self-healing production operations for cloud-native environments.

ACE is designed to give organizations everything they need (such as best practices, hands-on expertise, and automation services) to successfully migrate to autonomous, NoOps cloud operations. Dynatrace indicates that practice will initially focus on both unbreakable CI/CD pipelines and autonomous, self-healing production operations for cloud-native environments.
The ACE practice works closely with IT organizations to create unbreakable delivery pipelines and NoOps cloud operations. This includes developing an autonomous cloud strategic vision, identifying where and how to begin, providing hands-on expertise during the transition, and delivering rapid, “meaningful” automation services engagements.
Dynatrace goes into detail about these features:
- Business Case: Build a clear business case, organizational consensus, and cultural confidence around how the autonomous cloud frees constrained resources and enables IT transformation from technology centricity to technology-empowered business strategies.
- Best Practices: Learn best practices about autonomous cloud delivery methodology, use case specific technology automation, workflow blueprints, and transformational KPIs developed during dozens of engagements with leading enterprise IT organizations.
- Expertise: Leverage autonomous cloud expertise delivered through hands-on engagements with certified ACE consultants to ensure measurable automation and intelligence results.
- Automation Services: Focused automation engagements engineered to provide measurable value centered around the most important initial use cases across the autonomous cloud lifecycle.
Announced alongside ACE is Keptn, Dynatrace’s open-source pluggable control plane designed to help with this momentum toward autonomous clouds. It provides the automation and orchestration of the processes and tools needed for continuous delivery and automated operations for cloud native environments. Keptn will also be leveraged by ACE to speed up implementation and simplify the extensibility of integrations.
Dynatrace indicates that it faced several development and operational hurdles a few years ago while it was “reinventing its business and core software intelligence platform.” During this important transition to NoOps, customers showed great interest in lessons learned and best practices, which steered Dynatrace to codify this knowledge into Keptn.
Keptn is available to the open-source community, which will enable the industry to contribute in simplifying and accelerating the move to autonomous cloud operations.
Dynatrace’s indicates the following highlights of Keptn:
- A simple, declarative way to specify multiple continuous delivery pipelines for hundreds of microservices and automatically generate all the plumbing that underlies them. A multi-stage pipeline can be set up in minutes.
- An easily maintainable automation approach enabling customers to automate operational tasks like reacting to failed deployments based on performance and business feedback as well as automating remediation for production problems. Keptn’s control plane separates process definitions and actual tool integrations and orchestrates processes at runtime which increases manageability and adaptability.
- A high level of transparency, following a GitOps model, with distributed transaction tracing capabilities embedded into Keptn enables the stitching together of individual actions into traces and provides a deep level of visibility into automation tasks.
- Keptn is also being leveraged by Dynatrace’s newly announced Autonomous Cloud Enablement (ACE) Practice, to help customers further accelerate DevOps’ movement to autonomous cloud. Additional functionality for Keptn is being created by Dynatrace as well as a growing number of customers, partners and technology companies.
