EMC has announced beta availability of a new online enterprise file sharing solution that integrates its Isilon scale-out NAS storage with Syncplicity’s cloud storage technology. The solution features an on-premise Isilon storage option capable of growing from 10s of terabytes to 10s of petabytes in order to provide cloud access to corporate data while retaining IT control over where files reside.

The new offering leverages Syncplicity’s administrative tools and security, compliance, and policy controls to manage sync-and-share functionality that is familiar to end users but is designed with enterprise security in mind. According to EMC, enterprise users typically store 20-30GB of file data on their computers and devices. This solution will allow enterprise clients to better meet confidentiality and compliance requirements while still supporting legitimate business requirements for sharing files outside the corporate firewall and accessing files using personal mobile devices.

Availability

Syncplicity is available now in a variety of configurations for both enterprise and client users, with support for mobile apps. General availability for the Isilon integration is expected by the end of March.
