Today at EMC world 2015, EMC Corporation announced that they have broken the $25,000 price barrier for unified all-flash arrays with the VNXe3200. This is the first time customers can leverage EMC flash technology at such a low price.
Today at EMC world 2015, EMC Corporation announced that they have broken the $25,000 price barrier for unified all-flash arrays with the VNXe3200. This is the first time customers can leverage EMC flash technology at such a low price.
The VNXe3200 isn’t new, in fact we reviewed it back in October. The configuration we reviewed was also around $25,000 however it was for a hybrid version. The all-flash version is aimed at addressing performance needs that hybrid arrays can’t quite hit, up to 75,000 IOPS in a 2U form factor. The VNXe3200 unified all-flash array comes in three capacity: 2TB, 3TB, and 7.2TB. And though it carries an entry-level price point, it still has enterprise feature-set, management simplicity, and Connect Proactive Support capability.

- Using MCx multicore optimization features, the VNXe3200 Unified AFA is poised to support hundreds of virtual machines on a single system while delivering up to 75,000 IOPS of consistent performance and horsepower to accelerate a variety of virtual server, database, and transactional application workloads.
- Starting under $25,000, the VNXe3200 Unified AFA is the most affordable unified AFA in its class. EMC estimates that the VNXe3200 3TB all-flash configuration is expected to sell for around $25K. EMC thinks that this price for a 3TB unified AFA will be very competitive compared to similar offerings in the entry all-flash market.

Furthermore, the VNXe3200 Unified AFA offers customers flexibility to add more flash to the system or convert it to a hybrid flash array to deliver the performance of flash with the lower economics of disk, further reducing price per GB.
Availability and pricing
The unified all-flash version of EMC’s VNXe3200 is available for order today for the 3TB model. The 2TB and 7.2TB models are expected to be available in July 2015.
