Fleshing out the Database

by storagereview

Over the past week we’ve taken the opportunity to enter data from eleven additional drives into the StorageReview performance database.

First up are SAS versions of Maxtor’s Atlas 10K V and Atlas 15K II. We ran Testbed4’s standard battery of tests on these units but never quite got the go-ahead from the manufacturer for a formal review. Then, of course, Maxtor was absorbed by Seagate. We figure the results are fair game now.

In addition, it seems the drives from our original Notebook Drive Roundup back in 2005 never quite made it into the system. The Fujitsu MHT2080AH, MHT2080BH, Hitachi Travelstar 5K100, Travelstar 7K100, Samsung SpinPoint M40, Seagate Momentus 5400.2, Momentus 7200.1, and WD Scorpio WD800VE are now represented.

Also added for references purposes is the small but peppy Travelstar 7K60.

The links above take you to stand-alone results of each drive in question but, as always, custom comparisons between all drives may be created by starting with any sort then check-boxing the desired drives for a head to head comparison.
