Generac data center backup generators deliver 2.25MW–3.25MW of scalable, reliable power for hyperscale, enterprise, and edge deployments.
Generac has expanded its energy solutions portfolio by introducing new generator models explicitly designed for the data center market. The latest additions feature five high-capacity generators, ranging from 2.25MW to 3.25MW. These units are engineered for seamless integration into various energy ecosystems, providing a flexible and scalable solution to meet the power demands of hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge data centers.
Generac’s commitment to reliability and innovation is evident in the advanced features of its new generators. Central to their design are Baudouin M55 engines, known for delivering consistent backup and continuous power across data centers and mission-critical applications worldwide. These engines have high-pressure standard rail fuel systems, ensuring rapid transient response, high ambient temperature performance, and reduced Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Complementing this is the Deep Sea G8601 Controller, which provides extensive configurability to meet a broad range of mission-critical requirements.
The generators also feature Marathon DataMAX alternators, specially designed to meet the rigorous demands of global data center operations. With reliability and low reactance at their core, these alternators uphold the high-performance standards of modern data centers. To further minimize environmental impact, the units are crafted to comply with stringent emission regulations, including those mandated in Virginia, and are compatible with Tier 4 aftertreatment systems.
Operational redundancy is a cornerstone of these new generators. A robust redundant starting system includes an extra set of engine starters, batteries, and battery chargers, ensuring continuous operation without single points of failure. High ambient cooling packages allow the units to maintain peak performance in challenging environments, even at temperatures reaching 50°C. The modular nature of Generac’s power systems enhances reliability, scalability, and ease of maintenance by integrating multiple generators through Deep Sea onboard paralleling controls. This modular approach ensures that the power supply can be easily expanded and adjusted as needs evolve.
In addition to the core generator units, Generac offers a comprehensive suite of packaging and after-treatment solutions. These encompass enclosures, fuel tanks, and switchboards, all sourced from experienced packaging manufacturers in the data center sector. Such integrated packaging solutions simplify deployment and ensure each component works together.
Generac’s innovative approach is supported by a robust supply chain designed to meet rising demand, maintain competitive lead times, and ensure consistent quality. The company’s ability to adapt production schedules reduces downtime and accelerates the deployment of these essential power solutions. With 50-60 week lead times for fully packaged generators, Generac showcases its readiness to meet the fast-paced demands of data center development.
Generac has recognized the evolving energy landscape and focused on the commercial and industrial markets. By leveraging market insights and acquisitions, the company continues to develop solutions that provide dependable backup power in the face of an aging power grid, severe weather, and increasing energy consumption. Generac’s new line of data center generators reflects this commitment to delivering performance, flexibility, and reliability in a dynamic and growing industry.
