Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., made a few announcements around improving and accelerating digital transformation initiatives. HDS is introducing three new solutions to tackle these issues: Hitachi Enterprise Cloud (HEC), Hitachi Management Automation Strategy, and enhancements to the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) 2000. HDS also added a host of new services to Hitachi Cloud Services.

HDS is introducing three new solutions to tackle these issues: Hitachi Enterprise Cloud (HEC), Hitachi Management Automation Strategy, and enhancements to the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) 2000. HDS also added a host of new services to Hitachi Cloud Services.
There are more and more enterprise clouds popping up on the market. Hitachi claims that its Enterprise Cloud (HEC) is the first to offer pre-engineered, pre-built service catalogs that are integrated with a dedicated converged platform. HEC will be a family of products, which will include an application-centric, private and hybrid cloud platform, Hitachi Enterprise Cloud with VMware vRealize. vRealize comes with Cloud Management Software and services with will help make it a ready-to-use private or hybrid cloud. The solution comes with a high degree of flexibility being available on or off premises in a traditional acquisition model or a usage and outcome-based managed cloud solution.
The Hitachi Management Automation Strategy is all about simplifying management, one of the usual themes of cloud adoption. The strategy will also motivate the use of IT as a Service (ITaaS) for both traditional and next-gen applications. The Hitachi Management Automation Strategy is a portfolio of automation-focused software including UCP Advisor, which, according to HDS, delivers simplified, smart converged management for individual and multiple UCP 2000 systems.
Hitachi announced some enhancements for its UCP 2000 that center around performance, scale, and ecosystem support. From a performance side, both the UCP 2000 and UCP HC systems now support the new Intel Broadwell processors. Along with that these new systems also have optional support for Hitachi Data Ingestor, Content Platform, and WAN Optimizer to provide unique and customizable solutions. For scale, UCP 2000 support up to 128 nodes now, along with several networking and security enhancements. And HDS is extending its support for OpenStack environments for UCP systems.
Along with the above announcements, HDS is offering several other cloud services including: Storage as a Service, Compute as a Service, Backup as a Service, Archive as a Service, Disaster Recovery as a Service, as well as a new analytics solution.
