HDS Releases Hitachi UCP RS Series

by Adam Armstrong

Today Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced the release of Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) RS series. The new UCP RS series is a fully integrated, software-defined data center (SDDC) rack-scale platform, powered by VMware Cloud Foundation. The big benefits to customers that the UCP RS provides is quicker embrace of hybrid cloud, which will deliver faster time to market and pay-as-you-go economics, and it also allows customers to leverage both private and public clouds as extensions of their business. With UCP RS, customers have the choice of either deploying an integrated SDDC stack or building their own using Hitachi's vSAN ready node and VMware software.

Modernizing the data center is putting new strains and demands on IT. Hitachi and VMware realize these demands and worked together in developing the fully integrated, turnkey Hitachi UCP RS system. The system gives IT resources the infrastructure needed to deploy hybrid clouds while reducing complexity and management through automating provisioning, managing and monitoring for SDDCs. This gives customers faster time to market and higher availability, both of which can be a tremendous competitive advantage.

Not only is HDS releasing the UCP RS, it is also enhancing its hyper converged system Unified Compute Platform (UCP) HC. Hitachi has taken both its all-flash and hybrid UCP HC and enabled them with NVMe technology and new sixth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. These two technologies will result in higher performance, lower latency, and accelerated workloads that will maximize business value for customers.

Availability

Hitachi UCP RS is generally available to customers and partners now in all regions.
