HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 Announced

by storagereview

HP is announcing their new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 which delivers over 550,000 IOPS and has extremely low latency with a 0.7ms response time, and it doesn’t require a separate storage architecture. The new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 Storage enables customers to improve application response time with flash specific software optimizations such as adaptive read and write optimization and autonomic cache offload which dynamically adjust the granularity of cache-to-flash operations based on demand. Also, the system sustains high performance with multi-tenant I/O processing and higher-performance mesh-active clustered controllers which ensure that all application volumes are active on all disks and controllers at the same time. The system also manages flash efficiently with the new media wear gauge, it extends media lifespan with load-balancing. On top of all of this, it lowers costs by reducing capacity requirements by 50%+.

Using HP Peer Motion storage federation software customers can easily move data between any 3PAR StoreServ system, eliminating data migration complexity, disruption, and the need for external appliances. HP has increased the application service levels by enhancing the software portfolio with a range of features.

HP Peer Motion Features

  • HP 3PAR Priority Optimization Software: ensures high performance where needed by enabling administrators to deliver quality of service for essential performance-intensive applications.
  • HP 3PAR StoreServ Data at Rest Encryption: allows customers to comply with regulatory requirements and security issues stemming from a compromised drive by encrypting the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage system using self-encrypting drives.
  • HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Windows Hyper-V: provides space-efficient snapshot and rapid recovery of business application data within a Hyper-V virtual machine through seamless integration between HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage and the Windows Hyper-V host.

Using HP StoreFront Mobile Access for Android-based smart phones, customers can easily monitor and manage storage performance and service levels via a simple, intuitive interface that can deliver real-time alerts and notifications for faster problem resolution.

Utilizing the new HP StoreFabric 16-gigabit Fibre Channel infrastructure with the StoreFabric SN6500B Fibre Channel switch allows the 3PAR StoreServ 7450 to scale from 48 to 96 ports and support for 4, 8, or 16 Gbps speeds while lowering latency and simplifying deployment.

Pricing and Availability

HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 is available now for a starting price of $99,000. HP 3PAR Priority Optimization Software, HP 3PAR StoreServ Data At Rest Encryption, and HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Hyper-V will be available later in June. HP StoreFabric SN6500B Fibre Channel switches are available now in four configurations starting at $73,999. HP StoreFront Mobile is available at no charge from the Android app store.
