In order to support all aspects of the film's production, HP provided their latest-generation HP Converged Infrastructure including:
HP Z800 and Z820 workstations with HP DreamColor monitors
The HP Z workstations are all about performance. Coming with 24 CPU cores, 5760 NVIDIA CUDA Processing cores, 512GB of memory, 15TB of capacity, 7 PCIe slots, running on windows 7 professional, and Thunderbolt 2.0 connection, the HP Z workstations produce 10.4 Teraflops of computing power. The Z workstations are combined with HP DreamColor monitors that has over a billion onscreen colors, HP integration engine, and 4K input support.
HP BladeSystem c7000 a mix of HP ProLiant server blades and scalable converged storage featuring HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
HP has recently announced enhancements to their HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage. Now the array is now available in all flash configurations featuring 1.92TB MLC SSDs. The updated indexing feature and built-in Gen4 ASIC to support primary CPU are key to enabling rapid inline data services that takes the effective scale of the array from 460TB raw to more than 1.3PB of equivalent usable capacity.
HP Networking, Utility services, and HP managed Print Services
These HP services allow the studio continuous availability and performance while reducing network complexity, meeting the peak demand while staying within the studio's budget and existing footprint, and predictable print-cost with near-flawless print device uptime.
The work HP does with DreamWorks not only allows the production of animated films, it advances technology for both the consumer and the enterprise market. The culmination of this technology can be seen in How To Train Your Dragon 2 that is in theaters now.
