HP has announced the next generation of its MSA entry disk array, updates to the HP StoreEasy Storage portfolio and a new program for HP channel partners. The HP MSA 2040 Storage is the first array in its class to offer 16Gb Fibre Channel connectivity, enabling the MSA 2040 Storage to scale to increasing workload and performance demands. The MSA 2040 Storage also has a high-performance controller to maximize SSD performance and support growing workloads. This reduces that data center footprint and energy costs as organizations can setup more VMs on less hardware. Deployment is also improved with existing MSA users able to move existing drives from their previous generation model to the new MSA 2040 Storage. Additionally, there is a simple management interface that administrators already use with HP ProLiant and HP BladeSystem servers.
The HP StoreEasy Storage portfolio is designed to support thousands of users simultaneously so that customers can store, manage and protect unstructured data. Updates in this announcement are significant. HP has simplified the process for creating new volumes, and it has incorporated a new provisioning tool for capacity optimization. Administrators can lower costs and plan for data changes by reviewing file share on local or remote systems. They can also get predictions on deduplication capacity savings. HP has also included snapshot management, a new wizard to configure clustered HP StoreEasy 3830 Gateways easier, and turnkey data protection for HP StoreEasy 1000 and 5000. Users are also now able to manage cloud data protection needs by using optional HP Data Protector and HP Autonomy LiveVault.
HP has also newly added HP Simply StoreIT to their HP Just Right IT program, which spans servers, storage, networking and services. HP SimplyStoreIT enables access to reference architectures and solution guides for HP channel partners and SMB customers. The new SimplyStoreIT program includes tools such as quote and configuration templates, co-branded lead-generation assets, as well as training and materials for sales.
