Today HP Inc. unveiled what it is calling the world’s most powerful entry workstations, with its updated HP Z Workstation lineup. These new entry workstations are aimed at product designers, architects, creative professionals, OEMs, educators, and financial workers. HP states that the new workstations will provide enhanced productivity and performance while being cost-effective and secure.
Today HP Inc. unveiled what it is calling the world’s most powerful entry workstations, with its updated HP Z Workstation lineup. These new entry workstations are aimed at product designers, architects, creative professionals, OEMs, educators, and financial workers. HP states that the new workstations will provide enhanced productivity and performance while being cost-effective and secure.
As technologies rapidly change so do workflows. This typically results in better hardware in order to keep up. But constant workstation refreshes can be costly. HP’s new entry workstations (the HP Z2 Mini, HP Z2 Small Form Factor and HP Z2 Tower, as well as the HP EliteDesk 800 Workstation Edition) offer the performance needed while being priced to where they won’t break the bank. The refreshed workstations have HP’s end-to-end security as well as a self-healing BIOS and endpoint security controller. The new workstations have also been designed for 24/7 reliability standards and all can now connect through Thunderbolt interface. As with all workstations from HP, there are several customizations options for users’ given needs.
Going from small to large, HP has refreshed the HP Z2 Mini Workstation with twice the graphic power in the same small footprint. User can now leverage the NVIDIA Quadro P600 or NVIDIA Quadro P1000 GPU with an option for the AMD Radeon Pro WX4150 GPU if need. As with the previous versions, the Mini can be mounted in several different manners such as under a desk or behind a monitor to save space. Its dimensions also allow for 59 units to fit in a standard 42U rack. The latest Mini has the option of a six core Intel Xeon Processors for mission critical environments.
Another workstation making a performance leap in the same compact form factor is the updated HP Z2 Small Form Factor (SFF) G4 workstation. HP states that it can be equipped with the same CPUs as the new Mini leading to 50% more processing power of the previous generation. The Z2 SFF is highly configurable with four PCIe slots and dual M.2 storage slots. It has “flexible I/O" options so users don’t need to take up valuable PCIe slots for networking or other connectivity. It, too, comes with several mounting options to save space.
A slightly larger workstation that is designed to tackle larger workloads, such as BIM and rendering Ultra 3D graphics, is the HP Z2 Tower G4 workstation. The Z2 Tower can leverage either the latest Intel Core or Intel Xeon CPUs and is states to have over 60% more graphics power than the previous generation. Unlike the previous two models The new Z2 Tower is actually 13% smaller than the previous generation.
Finally, for users that need more performance but still want a cost-effective solution, HP has released its EliteDesk 800 Workstation Edition. This workstation is specifically designed for 2D/3D design and drafting and is approved for use with SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Out-of-the-box the workstation is optimized for VR engines. The workstation is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and comes with its own specialized customer support.
Availability and Pricing
