HP has released the latest version of the operating system for its HP StoreVirtual storage platforms, LeftHand OS 12.0. Like the update to 11.5, the latest version comes with several new enhancements as well as a few fixes for the previous version of LeftHand OS.

HP StoreVirtual Storage offers highly versatile storage solutions, both hardware platforms and software-defined solutions. These all-inclusive enterprise-level solutions have the flexibility to meet the changing demands and growth in virtual machine count. The platforms are designed with high availability to ease of use in mind and businesses can use one or a combination, leveraging the same features and management.

This version of LeftHand OS runs on HP StoreVirtual VSA Software, HP StoreVirtual 4000 Storage series (such as the HP StoreVirtual 4335 array), and the HP P4000 G2 Storage series. This version of LeftHand OS does not run on HP ConvergedSystem 200-HC StoreVirtual at this time. Users will see an upgraded Centralized Management Console where they will have to manually enable Space Reclamation.

New features include:

  • Space Reclamation – StoreVirtual Storage can now reclaim space in VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows environments using T10 UNMAP.
  • HP StoreVirtual Multipathing Extension Module (MEM) for VMware vSphere – Reduce latency and improve performance in VMware vSphere environments. The MEM also optimizes data-path traffic in multi-site (or stretch-cluster) configurations.
  • New REST API – Provision storage, create and modify storage pools using the all new web services based API for HP StoreVirtual.
  • Faster remote copy performance and system reboot times.

LeftHand OS 12.0 is available now and can be downloaded through the link below or existing customers can upgrade using the online upgrade feature in their HP StoreVirtual Centralized Management Console.
