IBM has announced its acquisition of Butterfly Software Ltd. which will become a part of IBM’s Software Group. Financial terms were not disclosed to the public. Butterfly is a privately held data analysis and migration software company based out of Maidenhead, England. They provide innovative applications that help organizations discover, analyse, and automatically migrate data centre infrastructures all around the globe.

Additionally, Butterfly provides its customers with the ability to eliminate the cost and risk of maintaining legacy storage and backup and recovery environments by allowing consolidation of all enterprise data onto the most efficient and effective strategic solution.

Butterfly works closely with vendors and reseller partners to solve their client issues concerning analysing and migrating data, and to produce cost effective solutions in order to address issues facing all of today’s businesses.
