Icy Dock has announced their latest in SAS/SATA cages, the Black Vortex MB074SP-B, which includes a range of features and functionality such as a 4-in-3 storage bay that can fit 4 x 3.5" drives in 3 x 5.25" slots. The Black Vortex also has front access and EZ-Grip handles to make swapping drives quick and easy, and without having to remove the entire cage. Additionally, with its quiet 120mm fan combined and all metal ventilated design, it has the ability to keep both the drives and system cool. The new Black Vortex also is equipped with built-in LEDs on the fan, Illuminating the case with an ambient blue color.

With the feature to convert 3 x 5.25" slots into 4 x 3.5", the Black Vortex MB074SP-B allows for greater storage density by utilizing unused space. Each bay supports any type of 3.5" drive including SATA, SAS, or IDE interface. This functionality is very useful for power users that demand an abundance of storage capacity in their systems. The Black Vortex is also compatible with Icy Dock's 2.5" to 3.5" SSD / HDD converter so users can mount a 2.5" drive as well. If users need to mount two 2.5" drives in a single bay, they can utilize Icy Dock's EZ-Fit series SSD/HDD bracket to incorporate more storage density.
Icy Dock's EZ-Grip handles only requires two screws for installation. Once installed, users can effortlessly slide drives into in Black Vortex Cage, locking them firmly into place with the turn of a switch. The EZ-Grip handles are also compatible with Icy Dock's portable docks and HDD Adapters, such as the EZ-Dock Series and EZ-Adapter. Users can quickly remove their drives from the Black Vortex and insert them into the docking stations without having to remove the EZ-Grip handles.
The Black Vortex also includes a removable dust filter, which can easily be removed and cleaned by simply opening the cage door, pulling the filter out, shaking off the dust, and reinserting it back in.
