ICY DOCK has recently announced a new external hard drive enclosure, the MB662USEB-2S-1, which boasts improved looks and functionality over it’s predecessor. This new enclosure boasts dashing good looks, an all aluminum construction, an ultra quiet fan, and an internal shock absorbing cage for the occasional user error. It is also easier to use, requiring no additional software, no tools to install drives, offers all sorts of RAID compatibility, and supports the popular ports, namely Firewire 800, USB 2.0, and eSATA. It is compatible with both 3.5-inch disks and 2.5-inch drives with adapter.

The enclosure seems to have been designed to be put in a recording studio. The fan is 40mm, variable speed, and very quiet, while the unit allows for very fast disk swaps. While the maximum supported memory is limited to 3 TB, this unit’s other functionality should prove it as useful as it is beautiful.
