International Data Corporation (IDC) ran its quarterly Worldwide Server Tracker for the first quarter for worldwide server market, which reported an increase of 4.4% year over year to $19.8 billion during the first quarter of 2019 (1Q19). This was the first time in 6 months we’ve seen a single-digit revenue growth, so the market seems to have, for the time being, slowed down in 2019. Nonetheless, Dell EMC has once again retained its spot at the top, further extending its lead as the No. 1 provider of both total server revenue and units shipped globally.

Nonetheless, Dell EMC has once again retained its spot at the top, further extending its lead as the No. 1 provider of both total server revenue and units shipped globally.
Volume server revenue has increased by 4.2% to $16.7 billion, while midrange server revenue grew by 30.2%, reaching $2.1 billion. High-end systems sales fell significantly for a second consecutive quarter, declining 24.7% year over year to $976 million.
For the individual vendors, Dell Technologies increased to 20.2% of all server revenues for Q1 (with $3.99 billion in revenue). Dell shipped 517,000 units this quarter. With these results, Dell has further increased the gap between the No. 2 HPE/New H3C Group, which has a 17.8% revenue share ($3.51 billion in revenue) and 406,000 units shipped in 1Q19. Further down the line are Inspur/Inspur Power and Lenovo, which shipped 204,900 and 138,100 units, while holding 1Q19 revenue market share of 6.2% and 5.7%, respectively.
