Iomega took the wraps off its latest top-of-the-line rackmount Network Storage Array today. The px12-350r is a 2U unit running under the direction of an Intel Core2 Duo processor with 4GB of memory. It ships in either an 8 or 12TB capacity, but can be expanded to a maximum of 36TB using 3TB 7200 RPM drives in each of its 12 slots. The device will also accept 128GB SSDs.

The unit connects to the network via four Gigabit Ethernet ports capable of bonding and VLAN tagging. Drives can be pooled and configured for RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 as well as JBOD. It’s certified for VMWare and Citrix virtualization as well as Windows Server 2003 and newer. One of the use cases Iomega envisions is offsite data backup. To that end, they have included support for parent company EMC’s Avmar backup product that features sub-file deduplication capability. Another interesting wrinkle is the embedded Axis Video Hosting System component that allows up to 12 AXIS IP security cameras to be hosted on the device.
The MSRP for the base 8TB model is $5,999.99 and the 12TB model adds another $1000 to that price. An 8TB expansion pack is priced at $1399.99 while the 12TB version is $1699.99. The 128GB SSDs are $399.99 apeice.
