Iomega has announced the StorCenter px12-450r, a high performance storage solution for small and medium businesses, remote/branch offices and distributed enterprises. The px12-450r features the updated Intel Xeon Processor E3-1200 v2 and 8GB RAM. Iomega has simultaneously announced that their full line of StorCenter PX products will offer three years of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise starting in the third quarter of 2012.

Iomega’s latest StorCenter PX products all incorporate a new version of EMC LifeLine software with integrated cloud capabilities and can utilitize 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and 4TB SATA drives. StorCenter PX storage capacities range from diskless models up to 48TB. All StorCenter PX products now include EMC’s Avamar source-based deduplicating agent.

px12-450r Overview
The StorCenter px12-450 is a 12-bay, 2U network storage array that is 10GbE-ready. The px12-450r is a redesign of Iomega’s previous top-of-the-line model, the px12-350r. The px12-450r is designed for deduplication, VDI, database and storage-based applications, including multi-threaded storage workloads like multi-LUN iSCSI and multi-client virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

The StorCenter px12-450r is available in diskless and partially-populated configurations, enabling users to start with smaller capacity and provide their own HDDs to grow according to their organization’s needs. The px12-450r includes 2 PCIe slots, supports solid state drives (SSDs), and is ready to support 4TB HDDs as they become available. All configurations include drive trays to simplify expansion.

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Integration
The StorCenter PX series will be the first SMB storage line to offer native enterprise-class endpoint protection. McAfee VirusScan Enterprise offers customers threat identification and remediation and consistent scanning options, management, and reporting with the complete McAfee VirusScan family. McAfee VirusScan will be included on all Iomega PX series products when it becomes available in the third quarter of this year.

Availability
The Iomega StorCenter px12-450r will be available beginning in the third quarter of 2012. The px12-450r comes in a range of configurations, from a diskless model up to a 48TB configuration when 4TB disk drives become available. Pricing starts at $5,499.99.
