According to Iomega, the competition for the AXIS-enabled StorCenter NAS models are DVR-based security systems. Aimed at reducing costs through not needing expensive interconnecting hardware, the AVHS system gives businesses a cost-effective solution while adding remote surveillance and backup to the equation. Starting at $250 or $800, the ix2-200 and ix4-200d Cloud Edition models are offered in capacities ranging from 2 to 12TB. The smaller ix2-200 offers local RAID1 protection while the larger ix4-200d offers multiple RAID options. Based off a Linux operating system, both units are powered by EMC LifeLine software, offering cross compatibility with Windows, Mac, and Linx computers.
