Kingston has announced it’s shipping the SD10A/64GB, a 64GB SDXC UHS-1 Class 10 memory card. SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) is the next next generation SD format that allows capacities to eventually reach 2TB. Kingston’s offering has read speeds up to 60MB/sec. and write speeds of up to 35MB/sec.

SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) is the next next generation SD format that allows capacities to eventually reach 2TB. Kingston’s offering has read speeds up to 60MB/sec. and write speeds of up to 35MB/sec.
Compared to Sandisk’s 64GB SDXC offering, which only offers 15MB/s reads, Kingston has quite an advantage on the performance side. There’s a cost though, the Kingston 64GB SDXC card comes with a suggested retail of $499, the Sandisk version that’s available now has a street price of $220.
SDXC was largely designed to suit the expanding use of the SD format in the digital media area, including digital photography and digital video recording. To use the cards however the device needs to offer SDXC support.
The Kingston SDXC cards offer a lifetime warranty.
Availability
The Kingston 64GB SDXC card will be available at the end of June at a suggested retail price of $499.00.
