Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 USB Drives Announced

by Brian Beeler

Kingston Digital has launched the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 USB drive, their fastest USB drive to date. Not only will it store a bunch of data with a top capacity of 256GB, but it also cranks out read speeds of 225 MB/s and writes of 135 MB/s, certainly not something we’re used to seeing out of USB drives.

The big benefit of these speeds of course is not just in terms of file transfers when copying files back and forth, but the speeds also benefit those who want to work on files that reside on the drive, without having to move them to local storage. People who spend time editing large files on more than one computer can aggregate their files on a large HyperX 3.0 and get truly benefit from the portability and speed the drive offers.

The DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities. As a point of reference, the 256GB USB drive can store approximately 10 Blu-ray Discs (25GB each), 54 DVDs (4.7GB each), 48,640 MP3s (4MB each) or 13,473,684 Microsoft Word files pages. All while cruising along with potentially interface-saturating read and write speeds.
