Leil Storage used the CloudFest 2023 conference in Germany to announce a new data storage solution that it says will revolutionize the backup and archive data storage market. This purpose-built solution will be offered at a low cost while remaining a green alternative compared to other providers.
Leil Storage has partnered with Western Digital to use 26TB Host-Managed Shingled Magnetic Recording (HM-SMR) drives and features the Power Disable HDD management. Power Disable is a new industry standard feature defined for both SATA and SAS devices that allows the host system to perform a hard reset to the hard drive. The solution offers customers an environmentally friendly storage solution with lower energy consumption, lower cost per terabyte, and better performance than traditional legacy systems.
The Leil Storage solution is available as a private or public cloud service. Customers can choose between Leil Backup or Leil Archive, or both. They are optimized for storing large amounts of backup and archiving data, ensuring immutability and fast data retrieval in compliance with the latest EU green agenda.
Leil Storage CEO Aleksandr Ragel said:
“We focus on data storage designed for backup and archive only, which is greener than the competition, uses the latest technologies to safeguard the data and protect investments. And it scales out without scaling the bill.”
The purpose-built redundant and reliable data storage solution is available at an inclusive price of $4 per TB per month. Leil Storage aims to help data-heavy backup and archive companies with over one PB of storage to lower costs and with improved technology, increasing profits, offering better solutions to customers, and reducing the environmental impact.
Founders Ragel and CTO Dmitri Liautov also founded DIAWAY six years ago, providing highly scalable, high-performance, and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions in use by ISVs, MSPs, and SPs globally.
