Today Lenovo announced new servers, software, and solutions all aimed at accelerated performance, simplified management, and a reduced total cost of ownership (TCO). These new products will feature the newly released Intel Xeon series processors. Using the new processors Lenovo was able to achieve 6 performance world records including world record for x86 two-processor virtualized workloads, overall world record for server and storage performance per watt for all virtualized workloads, overall world record for server performance per watt for all virtualized workloads, world record for two-processor database and online transaction processing (OLTP) workloads, leadership performance in high-throughput workloads such as high-performance computing, and leadership performance in high-speed computing workloads such as high-frequency trading.

Lenovo has refreshed several of its severs to now support the new Intel Xeon processors, these servers include the two-socket 2U System x3650 M5, System x3550 M5, ThinkServer RD450, RD350, ThinkServer TD350, Flex x240 M5, NeXtScale nx360 M5. Lenovo states that it has also enhanced several data center offerings including one- and two-socket rack and tower servers, integrated blade systems, dense High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, systems management software, and solutions in partnership with leading ISVs. This newly enhanced portfolio can deliver up to 44% greater CPU performance, 22% more cores, 12% faster memory, up to 23% faster Hadoop performance, and up to 30% faster data encryption.
Aside from refreshing existing offerings within its portfolio, Lenovo is also introducing a new rack server, the System x3250 M6 rack server. This new 1U single-processor rack servers is optimized for small to medium businesses (SMBs), remote or branch offices (ROBO), and distributed environments. The new rack server is based on the Intel Xeon E3-1200v5 series processors and is designed for workloads such as email, file and print, Retail Point of Sale, and remote office applications.
In order to speed up deployments and simplify management, Lenovo’s XClarity is now available on all of their dual-processor servers. System management is simplified through automated discovery, monitoring, configuration, updating, and power usage optimization. Users can now access XClarity through their mobile devices. And Lenovo claims that XClarity can reduce deployment steps by 75%.
