Lexar today announced its Echo series of flash drives. The drives are designed for netbook and notebook computer users for file backups on the go.
Echo ZE
The ZE is one of the most unique flash drives we have seen in a long time – it has an ultra-small profile so it can remain plugged in at all times; a “plug-and-stay” device. The drive carries a two-year warranty and is available in capacities of 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB.
Echo SE
The SE is a high-performance USB flash drive with read speeds up to 28MB/s and write speeds up to 10MB/s. The drive carries a five-year warranty and is available in capacities of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.
The Echo drives come with Lexar’s Echo backup software, which automatically backs up files. The software allows the data to be encrypted (AES 128-bit). It can also keep a file history for previous version retrieval, and can even back up files in use.
The Echo SE and ZE drives will be available in the US and select European markets in February; pricing has not been announced.
