LSI has announced three new software performance enhancers for its 6Gb/s SAS/SATA MegaRAID controller cards: FastPath for SSD I/O acceleration, CacheCade to enable SSD caches, and Recovery which uses snapshots to prevent data loss.
LSI has announced three new software performance enhancers for its 6Gb/s SAS/SATA MegaRAID controller cards.
The first software option is LSI MegaRAID FastPath, which provides I/O acceleration for SSDs connected to a 6Gb/s SAS/SATA MegaRAID controller. Designed to boost transactional application throughput, it is claimed to deliver up to 150,000 IOPS; the company claims up to a 3X performance improvement in read and write IOPS with the FastPath software.
The second software option is MegaRAID CacheCade, a tiering software which allows SSDs to be configured as a secondary tier of cache to maximize I/O performance. This solution allows companies to increase hard drive performance with only a small investment in SSDs. The company claims up to a 50X improvement in read/write intensive applications.
The last software option is MegaRAID Recovery, which uses snapshots to allow rapid file and volume-level data recovery. This application can help prevent accidental and malicious data loss.
The new LSI MegaRAID software options are available now to select OEM partners; availability for channel partners is expected in the second half of this year.
