Memblaze has announced the release of its new PBlaze6 6930 NVMe SSD. The PBlaze6 6930 is designed specifically for data center applications and offers unparalleled performance and reliability. With a maximum capacity of 30.72TB, the PBlaze6 6930 is ideal for organizations dealing with large amounts of data. It is optimized for cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and other I/O-intensive applications.
The PBlaze6 6930 Series NVMe SSD is equipped with 176-layer TLC NAND and is optimized by proven SSD design and Memblaze’s own self-developed MemSpeed 4.0 technology. This allows for improvement in IO performance and power consumption ratio.
Looking at performance, the PBlaze6 6930 offers up to 1,600K/680K IOPS 4K random read/write performance, 7.1GB/s 128K sequential read bandwidth, and 7.0GB/s 128K sequential write bandwidth, making it potentially one of the fastest PCIe Gen4 SSDs on the market.
The PBlaze6 6930 also offers advanced power management, with five levels of power management ranging from 12W to 25W. It supports 25.6TB and 30.72TB user capacities, depending on endurance need, which can bring more than 730TB of storage capacity in a standard 24-bay 2U server.
Market Impact
This is the second enterprise SSD this week to be launched on TLC NAND at the 30.72TB capacity point, Micron just launched their own 9400 series. This capacity was previously only possible with QLC NAND-based SSDs like the Solidigm P5316. TLC SSDs will be more expensive than QLC at this capacity but should have more tolerance for heavy write environments, a workload that is traditionally difficult for QLC SSDs.
Importantly for Memblaze, they have a history of delivering really excellent SSDs for the last several years. Most recently we took a look at their 6530 SSD and as usual, liked what we saw. Our lab is pretty excited to see the blue dolphin show up every time and this new 30.72 TB TLC SSD will have special attention when they arrive in the lab for review.
