Today Memblaze announced it will be showcasing its new NVMe SSD at Flash Memory Summit next week, the Memblaze PBlaze5 X26. This new SSD is based on Toshiba’s XL-FLASH technology and its Enhanced Namespace Management technology. The Drive is stated to have ultra-low latency, high QoS advantages, while providing fast and stable performance. Memblaze will be showcasing the technology in their booth (#614) August 6-8 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California during FMS.

The Drive is stated to have ultra-low latency, high QoS advantages, while providing fast and stable performance. Memblaze will be showcasing the technology in their booth (#614) August 6-8 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California during FMS.
The key to the low latency of the new Memblaze PBlaze5 X26 is Toshiba’s new XL-FLASH technology a new flash media with ultra-low latency, Toshiba claims that they can hit one-tenth the latency of normal 3D TLC NAND. Memblaze states that the new PBlaze5 X26 800 will be able to maintain consistent ultra-low latency for several hours and intends on demonstrating it at FMS. Memblaze goes on to state that the drive will feature 4K random write latency under 10μs and 4K mixed read-write latency as low as 26μs on average.
Another feature the company will demonstrate at FMS is its new Enhanced Namespace Management technology. This technology is able to divide DRAM, NAND, and other media into different resource pools, proving application services through namespaces for MySQL databases. The Enhanced Namespace Management technology on PBlaze5 SSDs can enable MySQL to maintain the TPMC score of 32,000 within a two-hour TPCC test without jitter, according to the company. Memblaze goes on to say its technologies allow MySQL to keep its scheduling mechanism unchanged for effective access to the existing data center.
Availability
Memblaze PBlaze5 X26 is sampling now. Full product availability is expected in 2020.
