The new drives come in a performance and endurance model with capacities ranging from 3.2TB to 15.36TB in a U.2 form factor. The new series is aimed at AI/ML, OLTOP, NoSQL databases, Large Object, Small Random Block, and Big Data.

The new drives come in a performance and endurance model with capacities ranging from 3.2TB to 15.36TB in a U.2 form factor. The new series is aimed at AI/ML, OLTOP, NoSQL databases, Large Object, Small Random Block, and Big Data.
To talk about data growth or look at projects is almost cliché at this point. Whatever the projection of data growth is currently, it seems to go up year after year. Data growth also comes with mission-critical workload growth. All of this expanding data needs larger and faster storage. Micron has built off of 9200 series with higher capacity, performance, and endurance with the 9300.
While the 9300 uses the tried and proven 64-layer 3D TLC Micron NAND it delivers capacities up to nearly 16TB. An interesting difference here is that the drive can hit 3.5GB/s in sequential reads and writes, leading to potentially faster data analysis. The 9300 can also hit up to 850K IOPS of throughput. The drive claims average latency of 11μs write and 86μs read. The 9300 can also deliver up to 32 namespaces giving it the ability to handle multi- tenancy deployments in hyperscale data center and cloud infrastructures with ease.
