With the performance promise and low latency of NVMe it is no shock that more and more client devices are going to start going this route. That is precisely the angle of attack Micron is using with the 2200. It will deliver better performance (up to 3GB/s read speed and up to 240K IOPS read) with lower latency and lower power usage than spinning disks, and better performance than SATA SSDs. The M.2 form factor makes it ideal for a world where client devices are getting thinner and lighter. The drive also comes in SED version that complies with TCG Opal 2.0 standards.
