Our News Bits is a roundup that typically covers news pieces that are just small in content, not in impact. This gives content room to breath even if it comes in less than what we normally cover. At Microsoft Ignite 2018 there were several announcements that either small or would potentially get wiped out by some of the larger announcements so we have collected them here. Announcements come from companies such as VMware, Cohesity, Snowflake, Riverbed, and Komprise.

Cohesity Announces Integrations With Office 365 & Azure Data Box
Cohesity announce even more integrations with Microsoft including integrations with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and the newly announced Azure Data Box. These integrations give customers the breadth of exposure of Microsoft Azure along with the data protection of Cohesity.
Snowflake Announces GA On Azure
As we mentioned a few months back, Snowflake’s data warehousing capabilities were soon to be available on Azure, the company has announced GA at Ignite. Benefits include:
- All of your data – Create a single source of truth to easily store, integrate and extract critical insight from petabytes of structured and semi-structured data (JSON, XML, AVRO).
- All of your users – Provide access to an architecturally unlimited number of concurrent users and applications without eroding performance.
- Zero management – Snowflake reduces complexity with built-in performance, so there’s no infrastructure to tweak, no knobs to turn and no tuning required.
- Complete SQL database – Snowflake supports the tools millions of business users already know how to use today.
- Pay-per-second pricing – Snowflake’s built-for-the-cloud architecture scales storage separate from compute, up and down, transparently and automatically so you only pay for what you use.
- Data sharing – Snowflake extends the data warehouse to the Data Sharehouse, with direct, governed and secure data sharing in real time, so enterprises can easily forge one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many data sharing relationships.
Riverbed Announces Integrations With Azure
Riverbed announced a handful of integrations this week. These integrations include Riverbed SteelConnect SD-WAN with local branch path steering for Microsoft Office 365. As the name implies, users of the integration can now automate local branch path steering for Microsoft Office 365 via conventional Internet broadband. The company also announced SteelFusion support for Hyper-V bringing its benefits to Hyper-V customers.
Komprise Now Available On Azure
Komprise announced that its software is now available on Microsoft Azure. Komprise’s data management software identifies hot and cold data and automatically moves it even across multi-vendor storage. Other benefits include:
- Data Growth Analytics: Identifies hot and cold data across multi-vendor storage and enables efficient capacity planning of storage and backup.
- Transparent Move Technology: Moves data without disruption across on premises and cloud so users continue to access the moved files transparently from the original source and there is no performance degradation to hot data.
- Data Management Anywhere: Unified policy-based data management, analytics and data access across your storage infrastructure, on premises and cloud, regardless of vendor.
