NetApp’s new FAS2220 is the latest member of its entry-level product portfolio for midsize businesses, building on the launch of its FAS2240 announced in November 2011. The FAS2220 leverages new NetApp Flash Pool SSD caching technology to accelerate application performance and integrates with NetApp’s suite of storage efficiency technologies to help customers increase utilization and reduce power costs.

The FAS2220 leverages new NetApp Flash Pool SSD caching technology to accelerate application performance and integrates with NetApp’s suite of storage efficiency technologies to help customers increase utilization and reduce power costs.
The FAS2200 features NetApp OnCommand System Manager 2.1 to control and automate setup and ongoing storage management. FAS2200 runs on the latest version of the Data ONTAP operating system, which provides “cluster-ready” capabilities to seamlessly add storage capacity as needed to shared infrastructures.
NetApp’s VAR and Channel Partner Ecosystem
According to an April 2012 study by Enterprise Storage Group, 74% of midsize businesses will increase expenditures on cloud services in 2012. NetApp is working with VAR partners to deliver data protection as a service (DPaaS) to enable customers to protect their businesses from data loss and downtime. DPaaS is a intended as a first step into cloud services for such midsize businesses, delivering disk-based recovery and second-site failover functionality with the ability to pay as they go.
The GetSuccessful Cloud Services Program connects reseller partners with NetApp’s ecosystem of cloud service providers to capitalize on the cloud service opportunity. NetApp will participate in VMware’s ‘Real World Advantage’ campaign, which provides VARs with joint sales and marketing tools to accelerate opportunities and generate leads for VMware and NetApp solutions.
Availability
The FAS2220 will start at under $8,000 and will be available on June 12, 2012 through resellers, distributors, and systems integrators. DPaaS is available now through NetApp VAR partners.
